Fun in the Sprinklers

Several nights ago it super hot and the boys were tired of being inside. So, we set up the sprinkler for the first time and they had a blast. I also brought out the Spongeballs from last summer and they had fun throwing those too (they decided to peg me with them too).

Watermelon Granita

The boys love watermelon; Wyatt asks for it every single time we go to the grocery store. However, I hate buying it because we never seem to be able to eat it all and so we end up throwing it out and wasting it. A few nights ago I made Watermelon Granita, now we will have no trouble finishing up watermelons!

Watermelon Granita:
4 cups cubed watermelon (or just use a melon baller)
1/2 cup sugar
Juice of two limes.

Blend all ingredients in a blender until liquid. Pour into a baking dish and place in freezer. Stir with a fork every 30 minutes until slushy. Serve with a spoon in some cute glasses! You could even serve it with extra lime wedges.

Cousin Adelynne

Last week the boys got to meet their cousin, Adelynne, for the very first time. Let me just tell you that the were completely in love the moment that they saw her. Who could blame them, she's so stinkin' cute!! They loved playing with her and trying to help their Aunt Janaye take care of her. Wyatt even made a comment about it being really hard work to take care of babies. I just smiled thinking about when I had a newborn, 1 year old, and a two year old. Those were the days : )

Muffin Tin Monday, Copy Cat Theme

This weeks theme for Muffin Tin Monday was Copy Cat. We were supposed to look at other Muffin Tins from other families and copy one that we really liked. When I originally saw the fishing themed Muffin Tin that Michelle did over at Her Cup Overfloweth I knew the boys would love it and I was waiting for the opportunity to share it with them. I was right and they loved "fishing" for their food.
In our Muffin Tin we had crushed graham crackers sand at the beach, chocolate and cheddar goldfish crackers, banana starfish, pretzel stick fishing poles, blue sprinkle water, and peanut butter bait. The boys dipped the pretzels in the peanut butter and then stuck it to whatever they wanted to fish out to eat.
If you haven't participated in Muffin Tin Monday, you definitely should. You can check it out over at Her Cup Overfloweth.

Happy Birthday Seth!!!!

Happy 4th birthday little dude. You've come a long way from premie days in the NICU. You love to sing for anyone that asks and you are an awesome brother. You've also got your own rockin' style, including your love of "dino" hair (aka the mohawk). I love that you still want to cuddle every morning (even when your brothers are playing). You give everything you do 110% and I can't wait to see what God does with all the passion you have in your heart.

Muffin Tin Monday

I took a break from blogging about our Muffin Tin Monday Meals, although we've still been having them every week, but I decided to start blogging them again.
This week we had watermelon, tomatoes, grapes, cheese quesadillas, and Winnie the Pooh Crackers, as well as some milk. My kids love eating their lunch out of muffin tins, so if you're looking for a fun way to have a meal with your kids you should definitely try it. There's group of mom's over at Her Cup Overfloweth and they share their Muffin Tin meals every week. Sometimes there's a theme and sometimes there isn't. It's just a fun thing to do with the kids.

Camping Trip

We took our first camping to Inks Lake this last weekend and it was great. We swam, fished, hiked, roasted hot dogs and marshmellows and slept in a tent. I can't wait to do it again (when it is a little cooler).

This sneaky squirrel stole Wyatt's breakfast
The boys didn't catch anything, but they sure had fun trying

Swimming in the lake at Devil's Waterhole

Yes, I actually cooked eggs and sausage on an stove in the great outdoors

Jerad enjoyed the s'mores

The boys enjoyed the s'mores too

Central Texas Airshow

Several weeks ago we took the boys to the Central Texas Airshow in Temple. It was a lot of fun. They really enjoyed watching all the planes do tricks and there was a Vetnam War Reenactment that had lots of bombs and fire that they thought was neat. There were also some old cars that they thought looked like the cars from the movie CARS, so that was pretty cool too.

Summer is Here!!!

We are enjoying every minute of this warm weather. The boys have spent almost every day in water at my parent's house. My brother and sister-in-law are in town from Michigan and we're having a blast visiting with them. I love my family!!

Well, we know who Wyatt looks like

My mom sent me this picture from when she was a little girl. It is CRAZY how much Wyatt looks like her! I love this picture of her. Her little outfit is adorable and those bangs and curls in her hair are too cute.

My Roses

I have one small rose bush in my front yard and it's done alright in the past, but not stellar. Well, this year it has taken off. There are tons of bright pink blooms on it and they smell so good!! I don't know what kind of roses they are, but they smell like lemons. It's wonderful. Everytime one of the flowers wilts and the petals fall off I cut the pod thing off (yes, I don't know anything about flowers and I'm calling it a pod thing) and then five more flowers grow back in it's place. I want to get some more and plant them all over the place. They're fantastic.

Late Night Trip to Krispy Kreme

Last night after the boys had been in bed for about 30 minutes we decided to get them up and take them for a surprise trip to Krispy Kreme Donuts. If you know us then you know this is a HUGE treat for them because we RARELY eat junk food. When we got there Wyatt kept saying, "we can't go in there in our pajamas," but he got over it and we went in and they each got to pick out their own donuts and have some milk. It was a lot of fun.

Watching the donuts get cooked and iced

Sugar was starting to kick in!!!!!!!!!!

Dino Footprints at the San Gabriel River

Several weekends ago we took the boys hiking at the North San Gabriel River and looked for Dinosaur tracks. It's only about 15 minutes from our house and I can't believe we have never been before. We had so much fun and found about 3 tracks. The river was pretty dry, but the boys had a great time playing in the little water that was there and looking at the dino prints. I know when they're a little older and really understand what the prints are they'll think it's a lot cooler.

Seriously, it doesn't matter where we go, Wyatt finds something to climb.

Didn't Quite Get It

Tonight we read A Load of Trouble and Seth didn't quite get it. It is based on Proverbs 20:17 "Bread gained by deciet is sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel." It's all about a little mouse who lies to get bread crumbs. It's a cute little story.
Well, Seth totally misunderstood two lines in the book.
Following is how it all went down:
"Deceive means to fool somebody or to cause somebody to believe an untruth," said Papa. "In a way, it's just like lying." ---to which Seth said, "Oh like this" and got down on the floor and roared like a lion. You know lying/lion.
THEN...
Papa said, "Remember, Pastor Shepherd told the people a few weeks ago, The heart is deceitful and desperately wicked."---and Seth said, "Like Star Wars, Wicket!" You know, Wicket, the Ewok.

Transformer Easter Eggs

This was the first year we actually attempted to dye Easter Eggs with the boys and it really went much more smoothly than I anticipated. They picked out a Transformers Kit at Target to use for eggs and on Saturday night before Easter we set about dying eggs. They had a lot of fun and it really wasn't messy. I felt bad that we were taking the focus off Christ and using Transformers, so we talked about how the Transformers are called "transformers" because they change from one thing to anther. Then I told them that Jesus wants to transform us too. He wants to change our hearts and help us not make bad choices. They thought that was pretty cool.
