Three Little Paleontologist

The boys were playing outside and I was in the house cleaning up the kitchen. They came running in and declared that they were paleontologists and had just found a dinosaur bone. They were so excited. I went to look and sure enough they had dug a big hole and hit something large and white. I didn't have the heart to tell them that around here when you dig a couple of inches you'll hit rock. Let them believe that they really found a dinosaur bone. There's no harm in that right? Well...apparently finding one at home means that there's probably one on the playground at school and if you're smart you can get all friends in on digging one up; even if it means destroying the school grounds. Okay, maybe not such a great idea.
Every paleontologist needs a popsicle after a dinosaur dig!

A snowman in Austin!

The boys had so much fun building a snowman when Wyatt got home from school.
They also enjoyed making snow angels...

...and a snowball fight with daddy.

SNOW!!!

It started snowing here early this morning and Seth and Reece are so excited! We NEVER get any snow that sticks around. Wyatt is at school and I can't wait to get him home so they can build a snowman.

Muffin Tin Monday

It's that time again...Time for Muffin Tin Monday! We haven't done this in a while, but the boys just love it. If you're interested in joining in head on over to Muffin Tin Mom and see what the theme is. This week's theme was ORANGE.

We had Orange Juice, Clementines, Carrots, Ranch, Goldfish, Colby Cheese, Applesauce that I colored orange and an orange gumdrop.

The Eyes of Texas

I'm wondering if it's bad to let Eli fall asleep to The Eyes of Texas. I mean, it's a song that's supposed to get him pumped up for the big games, not put him to sleep.

Books We're Reading

Right now I'm reading The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane to the boys. They LOVE it. It's a great chapter book about a stuffed rabbit who goes on a "miraculous journey." The chapters are short and so we read one chapter before nap every day. I really like it because there are some words in the text that aren't familiar to the boys and so we get to broaden our vocabulary.
For my own reading pleasure I'm reading Instructing a Child's Heart and A Well Trained Mind. I'm really enjoying both books. Instructing a Child's Heart gives great practical instruction on changing a child's heart not just his behavior (something I think most people need a little help with). A Well Trained Mind is a guide to the classical education system and has really been inlightening for me. I highly recommend it for parents who aren't happy with the education that their children are receiving.

Magnetic Pattern Block Set

My parents got this for the boys for Christmas. Oh my goodness do they LOVE it! I was really surprised at how quickly Reece got the hang of it, but he learned how to do it in a snap. It's a great "toy" that teaches matching for him because he has to match the magnetic pieces to the picture on the board. The older boys like to use it to make their own pictures. When they get past the "dump everything on the floor" stage it will be a great thing to take in the car because it comes with it's own carrying case for the board, pictures, and magnets.

Reece is 3!!

Happy Birthday Reeces Pieces! You've come a long way from your premie days in the NICU. I love your outgoing, silly nature. You are a treasure.

Hello World

Again, I've been absent, but it's been for good reason. We welcomed Eli into our family on January 11th. We've just been busy ooohing and aaahing over him and I've totally neglected the blog. Hopefully these pictures will make up for it. I'm feeling so much better now and finally feel like I'm returning to being a mom. Lot's of fun in store so make sure to stay on the look out for new posts.
